The Ley Community provides an excellent setting
for a social work student to undertake their professional placement.
Over the years, we have had a number of students who have done placements
at the Community, and have benefited hugely from the experience.
It is a tough and exposed placement, so a student needs to be prepared
and aware as to what would be expected from them prior to deciding
to come.
We would strongly recommend that any student placement
should be for as long as possible as it takes several weeks orientation
before a student can fully settle into the work.
Students are supervised on site by one of the Assistant
Programme Directors and become full members of one of the house staff
teams. The model used for placements is that there is an off-site
supervisor who meets fortnightly with the student and is responsible
for writing the placement report.
Requests for placements should be made to
Steve Walker, Programme Director, at the Ley Community.
