Time to integrate into the therapeutic programme and learn how the Ley operates.
Stage 3:
The Work
22 weeks
Main therapeutic Stage. Involves taking on increased responsibility,
exploration of the past with the purpose of coming to terms with one's
own feelings, beliefs, attitudes and behaviour. Developing personal qualities
of self-awareness, self-worth, self-confidence and self-discipline.
Stage 4:
Moving on
8 weeks
Residents prepare to move out, start socialising out of the Community and undertake voluntary work. Specific workshops must be attended on financing and budgeting, alcohol use and cross addiction, education, leisure, and employment.
Stage 5:
Re-entry
12 weeks
Residents are expected to be in full time employment, living at the Ley Community but financially independent from it. Stage 5 residents attend two weekly therapy groups, and act as auxiliary staff on a rota supporting the full-time staff at weekends and in the evenings.
Stage 6:
Aftercare
12 months
Ex-residents are offered support from Ley Community resettlement staff either on an individual basis or in the weekly group run off site in Oxford City.
Twelve months after completing the programme, ex-residents return for a Graduation Ceremony and receive a silver ring embossed with the Ley Community emblem
in recognition of their achievement.
The time for each Stage given above is for guidance. In reality, every resident undertakes a slightly different programme depending on need, with some residents requiring
significantly longer than the 12 months outlined above.
