The Admissions Unit always requires personal contact from the person seeking admission either by telephone (01865 373108) or by letter. The following criteria for admission apply:
- An entrenched history of chaotic drug and/or alcohol misuse
- Previous non residential intervention for substance misuse problem
- No diagnosed mental illness in two years prior to application
- Over 18 years old
- Should not have committed a serious arson offence, an offence of a serious sexual nature, or an offence against children
- Should be sufficiently robust to manage the demands of an intensive therapeutic programme
- Be prepared to accept the Terms and Conditions of Residence
- If receiving prescribed medication, reduction is required prior to admission (excluding medication for health issues such as diabetes, epilepsy etc). Following admission, no medication will be prescribed/dispensed to relieve continuing withdrawal symptoms
If you meet the criteria an 'Application Pack' will be sent out for completion. On receipt of the completed pack, the Admissions Unit will ask for further information from your doctor, probation officer, solicitor, drug/alcohol worker, care manager etc. Then, if appropriate, an appointment will be arranged for you to spend a day with us for assessment. This allows you:
- To get a feel of a typical day at the Ley Community but without being involved in therapeutic groups
- To have a full interview with one of the Admissions Unit staff
Before an application can proceed, funding for the full 12 month programme will need to be secured. To achieve funding, an application must be made to the Social Services Department in your home area.
